In 1945, Charles and Ray Eames designed a plywood toy elephant, which, however, was never put into production. In 1946, a prototype was exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Today, it remains in the archives of the Eames family. After a limited edition in 2007, Vitra began serial production of the Eames Elephant in plywood in 2018.
The plywood Eames Elephant is available in cherry wood or—as a special numbered and labeled series—in grey-stained ash wood.
Additionally, the Eames Elephant is also available in plastic, ideal for children, and in a smaller plastic version, the Eames Elephant (small), both available in various colors.
